England Nursing Associate Practice Assessment Document

The England Nursing Associate Practice Assessment Document (NA PAD) builds on the work of the Nursing PLPAD 2.0 and meets the NMC Standards of proficiency for nursing associates (2018). Nursing Associate programmes vary widely with many being employer led. Therefore HEIs have the flexibility within the OAR Part B to outline their approach to protected learning time, end point assessment and how tripartite is implemented for their HEI.

NA PAD 1

By the end of Part 1 nursing associate students should be able to demonstrate guided participation in care and perform with increasing knowledge, skills and confidence.

NA PAD 2

By the end of Part 2 the nursing associate student should be practising independently with minimal supervision, provide and monitor care, demonstrating increasing knowledge skills and confidence.

Guide to using the NA PAD

The purpose of the guide is to provide guidance for the completion of the England Nursing Associate Practice Assessment Document. General guidelines are provided for each element within the PAD. This guidance should be read alongside specific instructions that may apply to individual Universities.

Mapping of NA PAD to NMC Proficiencies

This document includes all the mapping codes to reflect how the PAD meets the NMC proficiencies to support NA approval events.
